  Capstone Turbine Corp

Capstone Turbine Corporation develops, manufactures and markets microturbine technology for use in stationary distributed power generation applications such as combined heat and power, resource recovery and power quality and reliability, as well as hybrid electric vehicles. Capstone's Model C30 and Model C60 microturbines are approximately the size of a large refrigerator. The Model C30 generates approximately 30 kilowatts of electric power, which is enough to power a typical convenience store, and approximately 300,000 kilojoules per hour of heat. The Company has the ability to vary and modify the microturbines to accommodate a variety of applications and needs.

 Currently at a low for the week the company on Wednesday said it had resumed production of its model C60 microturbines, which it had halted due to quality problems. The company said it was still delaying production of its low-pressure natural gas C30 model due to a "component issue," though it expects to resume in the next two to three weeks. The company said on September 17 that quality issues had caused it to delay production of some models of its products and added that third-quarter financial results would be lower than expected due to lower shipments.

About Capstone
<%response.write(Getnews())%>
 Capstone Turbine Corporation is the world's leading producer of low-emission microturbine systems. In 1998, Capstone was the first to offer commercial power products utilizing microturbine technology, the result of more than ten years of focused research. Capstone Turbine has shipped more than 2,500 commercial production Capstone MicroTurbine systems to customers worldwide. These award-winning systems have logged more than 3.7 million hours of operation serving, among others, the following applications:

The Capstone MicroTurbine system is suitable for applications ranging from remote locations to city centers, delivering clean, high quality power from a wide variety of fuels, with superior safety and emissions. It offers the best value for clean and reliable small-scale power production. Features including maintenance-free air bearings, the lowest emissions of any non-catalyzed fossil fuel combustion, and digital power conversion combine to produce the optimal small-scale generator.

Benefits:

    The Capstone MicroTurbineTM is a compact, turbine generator that delivers electricity onsite, or close to the point where it is needed. Designed to operate on a variety of gaseous and liquid fuels, this form of distributed generation technology first debuted in 1998.

Scaleable. Efficient. Reliable. Innovative.
Derived through advanced engineering based on proven turbine design, microturbines represent a watershed energy management solution. Transforming the way businesses think about energy production, Capstone MicroTurbine solutions can reduce energy costs, ensure power availability and help preserve the environment with its near-zero emissions profile.

Capstone systems offer value across a broad spectrum of commercial, industrial and government operations. Recent Management News

 On Aug. 21, 2003 Capstone Turbine announced they had implemented several changes in the leadership of its sales, marketing, engineering and operations functions "strengthening Capstone's ability to capture and convert opportunities for growth," said Capstone CEO John Tucker.

Tucker appointed Mike Redmond Senior Vice-President of Engineering and Operations. In his 15 years at Boeing, Redmond held increasing levels of responsibility in engineering management, including Chief Engineer for Boeing's 737 Next Generation Program. Following his positions at Boeing, Redmond was appointed Vice-President of Engineering and Technology at Allied Signal Aerospace Equipment Systems. Redmond was most recently Vice-President of R&D at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, a manufacturer of digital products for electric utility and industrial companies.

John Fink III was named to the position of Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing. His professional career in the leadership of sales and marketing functions spans executive-level positions with several renowned corporations, including Daimler-Benz, AEG-Westinghouse and York International.

Sharon Faltemier - who has served as Vice-President of Human Resources with divisions at Northrop Grumman-Litton and at Boeing - is now Capstone's Vice President of Human Resources.

"I believe these additions to our leadership team further enhance our ability to take advantage of our many opportunities," Tucker said.

"I'm excited about Capstone's many market opportunities, including those most recently brought to light by the unprecedented blackouts in the northeast," Tucker added. "A number of facilities that rely on Capstone MicroTurbines every day to reduce their energy costs were able to keep operating, thanks to our products. I believe these leadership changes will strengthen Capstone's ability to capitalize on these and many other marketplace opportunities."
